Adare Manor, County Limerick, will host Europe against the United States from 17 to 19 September 2027, exactly 100 years after the first official Ryder Cup was played in 1927. The full event week runs from 13 to 19 September.
Europe will arrive as defending champions after beating the United States 15 to 13 at Bethpage Black in 2025. Luke Donald is back as European captain for a third consecutive Ryder Cup, while Jim Furyk will lead the United States.
For Irish golf followers, there is another layer. Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry were both part of Europe's 2025 team, Tom McKibbin has entered the 2027 qualification race, and Pádraig Harrington is one of Donald's vice captains.

How Ryder Cup betting differs from normal golf betting
Most professional golf is stroke play.
A player spends four rounds trying to complete the course in fewer total shots than everyone else. If you back them outright at the Irish Open, they are effectively competing against the entire field.
The Ryder Cup works differently.
It is match play. Each match is Europe against the United States, and players are trying to win individual holes rather than build the lowest four-day stroke total.
If McIlroy makes a seven on a hole while his opponent makes a four, the damage is one lost hole. He does not carry those three extra strokes into the next hole.
That changes both the golf and the betting markets around it.
There are also only 28 points available across the entire Ryder Cup. A match win earns one point. A halved match earns half a point for each side.
The first team to reach 14½ points wins the Cup.
If the final score is 14 to 14, the team that already holds the trophy retains it. In 2027 that team is Europe.
What are foursomes and four-ball?
Friday and Saturday each contain four foursomes matches and four four-ball matches.
They sound similar, but the formats are very different.
Foursomes
Two golfers represent each team, but each pair uses one ball.
The players alternate shots.
If McIlroy and Lowry were paired together, one might hit the tee shot on the first hole, the other would hit the next shot, and they would continue alternating until the hole was finished.
They also alternate who tees off on each hole.
That makes partnerships particularly important. A poor shot can leave your partner with the recovery.
Four-ball
Each of the four golfers plays their own ball.
Europe then uses the lower score from its two players on each hole, and the United States does the same.
If one European player makes birdie and his partner makes bogey, only the birdie matters for that team's score on the hole.
Four-ball therefore gives aggressive players more room to attack because a partner may already have the hole covered.
Singles
Sunday contains 12 one-against-one singles matches.
Every player competes.
That is where a Ryder Cup can change quickly. Twelve points remain available on the final day, which is why apparently large Saturday-night leads are not automatically safe.
The main Ryder Cup betting markets
Ryder Cup betting is broader than simply picking Europe or the United States.
By tournament week, you can usually expect markets around the overall result, individual matches, sessions and player points.
Ryder Cup winner
The standard winner market has three possible outcomes:
- Europe
- United States
- Tie
The tie matters because a 14 to 14 Ryder Cup is an official possible result.
Europe would retain the trophy in that scenario, but a bet on Europe in a three-way winner market would not necessarily win. The market can settle the contest itself as a draw.
Always distinguish this from a to lift the trophy market.
To lift the trophy
This is normally a two-outcome market.
You are betting on which team ends the week holding the Ryder Cup.
Because Europe enters 2027 as the defending champion, a 14 to 14 draw would be enough for Europe to retain the trophy.
So the distinction is simple:
Winner market: 14 to 14 can settle as a tie.
Lift the trophy market: 14 to 14 counts towards Europe keeping the Cup.
Read the exact market wording before placing the bet.
Correct score
Instead of simply choosing the winning team, you predict the final 28-point score.

Session betting
You can bet on a single block of matches.

Friday foursomes winner
You are not predicting the whole Ryder Cup. You are predicting which team scores more points across that one foursomes session.
The same idea can apply to Friday four-ball, Saturday foursomes, Saturday four-ball and Sunday singles.
A team can lose a session and still win the Ryder Cup.
Individual match betting
Each foursomes, four-ball and singles contest can have its own market.

Unlike normal stroke-play three-ball and two-ball betting, this is genuine match play. Holes are won, lost or halved rather than adding strokes across the round.
Top points scorer
A golfer earns points for the matches they play.
A full match win earns one point. A half earns half a point.
Top points scorer markets ask which player contributes the most points for Europe, the United States or sometimes across both teams.
There is an extra variable here that does not exist in ordinary tournament betting.
Selection matters.
A golfer cannot score points from a session in which the captain leaves them out.
One player might play all five possible sessions. Another might play only three.
That means form is only part of the problem. You are also estimating how often the captain will use the player and in which partnerships.

Those prices will almost certainly move.
The teams are not selected yet. European qualification has only recently begun, United States qualification does not begin until 2027, and a lot can happen to player form and fitness over the next year.

What is Adare Manor like?
Adare Manor is not a traditional Irish links course.
It is a parkland course beside the River Maigue, rebuilt from the ground up by Tom Fazio during 2016 and 2017 and reopened in 2018.
From the championship tees it measures 7,509 yards at par 72.
The fairways are relatively generous, but that does not make placement irrelevant. Strategic bunkering, mature trees, water and contoured slopes can make the correct angle into a green much more useful than simply hitting as far as possible.
Fourteen of the 18 greens are elevated.
The surrounds are tightly mown, which creates a choice around the greens between putting, bumping a lower shot or using more loft.
Adare Manor also uses extensive drainage and SubAir technology beneath all 18 greens. That matters in an Irish climate because the course has been designed to maintain firm championship surfaces even when weather conditions change.

Does the course suit match play differently?
Yes, because match play changes the cost of a mistake.
In stroke play, a double bogey stays on your scorecard for the rest of the tournament.
In match play, a disastrous hole normally costs only one hole.
That can make aggressive decisions more rational.
Imagine a reachable par five.
In stroke play, taking on water might not make sense if the downside is a seven that damages the entire tournament.
In four-ball, your partner may already be safely in position for par. That gives you more freedom to attack.
Adare Manor has exactly the type of strategic features that can create those choices: wide landing areas, water, bunkers, angles into elevated greens and short-game decisions around tightly mown surrounds.
It would still be a mistake to declare one player type perfect for the course more than a year in advance.
The final course setup can change, as can weather, firmness and even how Donald and Furyk arrange their pairings.
Has Adare Manor hosted the Irish Open?
Yes, but there is an important catch.
Adare Manor hosted the Irish Open in 2007 and 2008.
Pádraig Harrington won in 2007 before Richard Finch won the following year.
However, those results came on the old version of the course.
Tom Fazio's rebuild in 2016 and 2017 transformed the layout. Greens and tees were reconstructed and the modern championship course is materially different from the one Harrington played in 2007.
So Harrington's Irish Open victory is part of Adare Manor's history, but it should not be treated as direct current-course form for 2027.

Ireland's previous Ryder Cup
The Ryder Cup has only been held in Ireland once before.
The K Club hosted in 2006.
Europe, captained by Ian Woosnam, beat the United States 18½ to 9½.
It remains one of the largest victories of the modern Ryder Cup era.
The European side also contained several major Irish figures, including Darren Clarke, Pádraig Harrington and Paul McGinley.
Adare Manor therefore arrives with a very different sort of pressure.
It is not simply another European home Ryder Cup. It is the first in Ireland for 21 years, and the centenary edition of the competition.
Who are the 2027 Ryder Cup captains?
Europe: Luke Donald
Luke Donald will captain Europe for a third consecutive Ryder Cup.
He led Europe to a 16½ to 11½ victory in Rome in 2023 and then oversaw the 15 to 13 away victory at Bethpage Black in 2025.
If Europe wins again at Adare Manor, Donald would become the first captain to lead a team to three consecutive Ryder Cup victories.
His current vice captains include Pádraig Harrington, Edoardo Molinari and Francesco Molinari.
Harrington's role gives the week an obvious Irish connection beyond the players.
United States: Jim Furyk
Jim Furyk will captain the United States.
It will be his second time as Ryder Cup captain after leading the American team at Le Golf National in 2018.
He also has extensive experience as a Ryder Cup player and vice captain.
The United States has not won a Ryder Cup on European soil since 1993, so Adare Manor represents another attempt to break a run that will be 34 years old by the time the first ball is struck.
How does European Ryder Cup qualification work?
Europe's qualification race began on 27 August 2026.
It runs until 22 August 2027.
The leading six eligible players on the Ryder Cup Points List qualify automatically.
Donald then selects the other six players during the week beginning 30 August 2027.
That means the final European team will be:
6 automatic qualifiers + 6 captain's picks
Points are earned across eligible DP World Tour events from August 2026 and eligible PGA TOUR events from January 2027.
Different tournaments carry different amounts of Ryder Cup points.
The 2026 Irish Open at Doonbeg is part of the DP World Tour's Back 9 and carries 1,500 Ryder Cup points across the field.
That creates a direct line between this year's Irish Open and next year's Ryder Cup.
A good week at Doonbeg does not secure a place at Adare Manor, but it contributes to a qualification race that has already begun.
What about Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry and Tom McKibbin?
No Irish or Northern Irish golfer should be described as selected for the playing team this far out.
Qualification is still in its early stages.
But three names are obvious to follow.
Rory McIlroy
McIlroy has been one of Europe's central Ryder Cup players for years and played in the 2025 victory at Bethpage.
He is also one of the players currently priced very short in early markets to make the 2027 team.
That is not the same as being selected.
There is still almost a full year of qualification remaining.
Shane Lowry
Lowry played on the winning European teams in 2023 and 2025.
At Bethpage, it was Lowry who secured the half-point that guaranteed Europe would retain the Ryder Cup.
A Ryder Cup at Adare Manor has particular significance for him because it brings the event to Ireland during a period when he remains competitive at the highest level.
Tom McKibbin
McKibbin represents a different story.
He has not played in a Ryder Cup yet.
His age and development make him one of the Irish players worth watching as qualification progresses, but he still has to earn his way onto the team or make a strong enough case for one of Donald's six picks.

How does Ryder Cup match betting settle a tie?
This is one reason you need to read the market rather than assuming golf rules are universal.
Ryder Cup matches can legitimately finish level.
There is no need to continue into extra holes in an ordinary Ryder Cup match because a halved match awards half a point to each team.
If a bookmaker offers three outcomes on an individual match, the tie is a separate selection.
A bet on either player or team therefore loses if the match is halved.
This is different from many stroke-play two-ball markets, where a tie might instead make player bets void if no tie selection was offered.
The market wording controls the settlement.
Is Ryder Cup betting regulated in Ireland?
