Privacy Policy

Who we are

GambleGuru is an independent gambling review and comparison site. We decide what personal data this website collects and why, which makes us the data controller for that information.

You can reach us about anything in this policy, including any request about your data, at contact@gambleguru.org.

This policy was last updated on the date shown at the foot of this page.

What we collect

If you only read the site, we collect almost nothing. There is no account to create, no login, and no advertising or cross-site tracking of any kind.

Browsing the site involves two things:

  • One cookie, called NEXT_LOCALE. It stores the language and market you are viewing so the site does not reset every time you move between pages. It contains no identifier and nothing about you.
  • Standard server logs. Like every website, our hosting provider records requests, which includes your IP address, browser type and the page requested. These are used to keep the site running and secure.

If you contact us or subscribe, we collect what you type. Specifically:

What you useWhat we collect
Contact formYour name, email address, subject and message
Suggest a Casino formThe casino website, licensing details, your contact email and your message
Newsletter signupYour email address

We do not ask for and never collect payment details, financial information or identity documents. We are not a gambling operator: we hold no gambling account and handle no deposits or withdrawals.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

  • To answer you. When you submit a form, we use your details to reply. Our legal basis is legitimate interest, in responding to someone who has contacted us.
  • To send the newsletter. Our legal basis is your consent, given when you subscribe. You can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email, or by emailing us.
  • To keep the site running and secure. Server logs are processed on the basis of legitimate interest.
  • To measure traffic. See the next section.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.

Cookies and analytics

We use one cookie, NEXT_LOCALE, described above. It is strictly necessary to deliver the site in the language you chose, which is why it does not require consent.

For traffic measurement we use Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookieless. It records page views and general information such as country, referring site and device type, without storing any identifier on your device and without following you between websites. Because nothing is stored on your device and no individual is identified, there is nothing here to consent to, which is why you will not see a cookie banner on this site.

We do not use advertising pixels, remarketing tags or cross-site trackers of any kind.

Who else handles your data

We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf:

  • Vercel, which hosts the website and produces the server logs and cookieless analytics described above.
  • Resend, which delivers our form emails and stores the newsletter subscriber list.
  • DigitalOcean, which hosts the content system that serves the pages you read.

Some of these providers are based outside the European Economic Area, so your data may be transferred internationally. Where that happens, the transfer relies on the safeguards those providers have in place, such as standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.

We may also disclose information if we are legally required to.

How long we keep it

  • Form messages: for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and a reasonable period afterwards, normally no longer than 24 months.
  • Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe, after which your address is removed from the list.
  • Server logs: a short period set by our hosting provider, typically measured in days rather than months.

Your rights

Because we do process personal data when you contact us or subscribe, you have the following rights under the GDPR and Irish data protection law:

  • Access. Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification. Have inaccurate data corrected.
  • Erasure. Ask us to delete your data.
  • Restriction. Ask us to limit how we use it.
  • Objection. Object to processing based on legitimate interest.
  • Portability. Receive your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent. Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time, which does not affect anything we did before you withdrew.

To exercise any of these, email contact@gambleguru.org. We will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission, Ireland's supervisory authority, at dataprotection.ie. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Links to gambling operators

This site links to third-party gambling operators, and some of those links earn us a commission. When you click through, you leave our site and the operator's own privacy policy and tracking apply. We have no control over what they collect and we do not receive your personal data from them.

Read the privacy policy of any gambling site before you register or deposit.

Under-18s

This site is for adults aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our practices change. The current version always appears on this page with its last-updated date. Material changes take effect when they are published here.
